Vision:
Zimbabwe Democracy Now aims to ensure there will be a free and fair election in Zimbabwe in 2008 according to SADC guidelines
Mission:
We aim to portray in a positively provocative way the reality of the situation in Zimbabwe in the period leading up to, during, and after the Presidential and Parliamentary elections. We aim to promote an activist approach in order to achieve an authentic resolution of the Zimbabwean situation. We adopt the premise that the truth will make us all free and we will expose credibility gaps in this regard. The effective communication of these messages will raise the awareness within Zimbabwe, across South Africa, SADC and the international community in order to prevent a fraudulent resolution to the Zimbabwean crisis.
Using the media, our website www.zimbabwedemocracynow.com and the distribution of pamphlets , we will resurrect the feeling of hope amongst all Zimbabweans that they can effectively change the political landscape within Zimbabwe during 2008.
We will:
Assert the right of Zimbabweans to the same democratic rights enjoyed by South Africans :
free and fair elections
an end to political violence
one citizen, one vote
Highlight the requirements for free and fair elections in terms of SADC guidelines
Portray and contrast the reality on the ground with these guidelines
Portray Zimbabweans as pro-actively working towards free and fair elections
Encourage those in the diaspora to go home and vote, or encourage their families at home to vote for them and to empower the diaspora with the knowledge they have the power to change the situation
Encourage South Africans to show solidarity with their neighbours and continue the hard earned fight for African democracy
